CBD is in its very infancy, yet it continues to grow quickly and positively in world stature. CBD has become the most important ingredient in the burgeoning natural health market, constantly being spurred on by very deep and detailed summaries such as the one published by the Sunday New York Times in early November 2018 entitled, “Why is CBD Everywhere?” But the acceptance of CBD has not been limited to news outlets and the public. During 2018, the World Anti-Doping Agency (which sets policy for the Olympics and virtually all sports bodies worldwide) removed CBD from their list of banned substances and today many athletes are being recommended to consider taking CBD. And more recently, the most powerful health organization globally, the World Health Organization (WHO), made a powerful statement in support of CBD use for adults and children specifically finding that:
• There are no case reports of abuse or dependence relating to the use of CBD.
• No public health problems have been associated with CBD use.
• CBD has been found to be well tolerated with a good safety profile.
• There is no evidence that CBD is liable to similar abuse and similar ill-effects as substances such as THC.
For these reasons and many more, every day CBD is not only growing in popularity as a stand-alone health solution but is finding its way into mainstream products as well.
Finally, major corporations such as beverage maker Constellation Brands (Corona and Budweiser) have invested billions of dollars into CBD brands in the later part of 2018 alone.
